About Tartan Credit Union

Tartan Credit Union Limited was formed in 1963 for the benefit of employees of 3M Australia and their families.

Tartan actually relates to the Scotch brand products that 3M make (Scotch Tape, Scotchgard, Scotchbrite, etc)

The Credit Union still operates with this basic principle as the platform on which all decisions are based - "for the benefit of the members".

Tartan's purpose is to provide members with quality products and services - not to return a profit to an owner or major shareholder. Income is received from interest, fees and charges paid by members, investment of member's funds, and commission from insurance products and other products for which the credit union acts as an agent.

Whilst the Credit Union operates autonomously, its activities must comply with standards set by our regulators from time to time. More information about our regulators can be obtained from our office.

Once you become a member, you can remain a member for life with the full range of products and services available to you - regardless of where you work, or if you resign or retire from your job.
